NJIT Professor Designated As Fulbright ScholarChristopher Funkhouser, PhD, assistant professor, department of humanities, has been designated as a Fulbright Scholar for teaching and research in Malaysia in 2006. Dr. Funkhouser, a specialist in digital poetry and literature, will be working at Multimedia University in Cyberjaya, Malaysia, next spring. His project, dealing with multimedia database communication, involves half-time lecturing and half-time research at the University. His proposal was selected by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board and was endorsed by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars. Professors Recognized for Article in IEEE PublicationNancy W. Coppola, associate professor of humanities, has won the Rudolph J. Joenk Jr. Award for best article published in IEEE Transactions on Professional Communication for 2004. The article, "Swift Trust in Virtual Teams," was written with  Roxanne Hiltz, PhD, distinguished professor of information systems, and Naomi Rotter, PhD, professor of management. The Joenk Award winner is invited to present a paper at the IEEE International Professional Communication Conference in Limerick, Ireland, in July 2005. NCE Staff Recognized at Annual Awards BanquetBrenda Walker and Geny Moreno, Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, were recognized for their service and dedication to Newark College of Engineering (NCE) at the school's annual Awards Banquet on April 8, 2005 at the Newark Airport Marriott Hotel. Ms. Walker received the NCE Outstanding Staff Award and Ms. Moreno was presented with the NCE Excellence in Advising Award.SPE Student Chapter Receives Outstanding Student Organization AwardThe Society of Plastics Engineers student chapter was presented with the Outstanding Student Organization Award at the NCE Awards Banquet on April 8, 2005 at the Newark Airport Marriott Hotel. Six Highlanders Named Arthur Ashe Sports ScholarsSix NJIT student-athletes were named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholars in the most recent issue of Black Issues In Higher Education magazine. Each awardee must have had a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.20, been an active member of an intercollegiate athletics team in 2004-05, and have demonstrated a record of service to his/her university or community. They are: Jennifer Dorn, cross-country; Elizabeth Mayo, cross-country; Mario Douglas, soccer;  Sita Kulkarni, volleyball; Deepti Sanjai, fencing;  and Donelle Small, swimming.NCE 70th Reunion Website Wins Admissions Advertising AwardThe Newark College of Engineers 70th Reunion Website received an honorable mention in the twentieth annual Admissions Advertising Awards sponsored by Admissions Marketing Report.
